__Concept__:

For an 'n-bit' encoder, the number of levels will be:

L = 2^{n}

The range of an encoder in volts can be calculated as:

0 ≤ Range ≤ (2^{n} - 1) × Step size

Step size = Change in amplitude between two successive levels.

__Analysis__:

For n = 5, the number of levels will be:

L = 2^{5} = 32

Given step size = 1 V, i.e. every successive levels has a difference of 1 V between them.

∴ The range of the encoder will be:

0 V ≤ Range ≤ (32 - 1) × 1 V

**0 V ≤ Range ≤ 31 V**
